How to Play
The idea
You play on a team of 3 or 4, sitting together. Everyone builds words on their own board, and every point goes into one team score. When you need a letter, ask your team out loud: “Does anybody have a T?” — and help them when they ask you!
Playing
- Tap your letters to spell a word in the tray.
- Tap a row with the same number of squares to put the word in.
- Tap Submit. Every finished row scores at once — fill more rows before you submit for a bigger turn. New letters fill your bank.
- Your points go straight into your team score.
Swapping with your team
One letter each way, with a teammate, whenever you like. You never have to swap.
- Need a letter? Say it out loud, and tap 🙋 I need to put it on your teammates’ screens.
- Have it? Tap your teammate’s name, then tap the letter. It’s on its way!
- Getting one? A gold box says who is sending you what. Tap any one of your letters to send one back — if they need one, it glows.
- Changed your mind? Tap their name again to take it back, or tap No thanks.
Stuck? Tap Hint
The first tap gives a clue, like “a 3-letter word that starts with S”. The second tap shows the word and lights up its letters. A hinted word scores half. (Your teacher can turn hints off.)
Scoring
Every letter shows its points in the corner. A word scores the points of all its letters. A letter on a ×2, ×3 or ×4 square counts two, three or four times.
The idea
You play on a team, and every point goes into one team score. You get 4 number tiles and two equation lines. Each line ends with a total. Use 3 or 4 numbers and the signs to make one of the totals.
Playing
- Tap a line to choose it.
- Tap your numbers and the signs +−×÷() to build an equation.
- Put two number tiles side by side to make a two-digit number, like 12 for 12.
- The line turns green when it makes the total. Then tap Submit. If both lines are green, one Submit scores both!
- Tap anything on a line to take it off again.
- The numbers you used are replaced with new ones. Only the total you made changes — the other one stays. Make both and you get two new totals.
- Your points go into your team score.
- Stuck? Tap Hint for a clue, then again for the answer. A hinted equation scores half.
Swapping
You play on a team of 3 or 4. Here’s the twist: you can’t make your totals with only your own numbers. Every total needs one number that a teammate has. Look at your numbers, work out which number would make the total, and ask your team for it out loud.
Tap a teammate’s name, then one of your numbers, to send it; they tap one of theirs to send one back. One number each way. Help your teammates too — they need your numbers!
Which order?
Your teacher chooses. Left to right: work it out in the order it’s written, like a simple calculator. PEMDAS: brackets (parentheses) first, then × and ÷, then + and −. Anything in brackets is always worked out first.
Scoring
| 7Each number tile | 3 points |
| +Each plus | 1 point |
| −Each minus | 2 points |
| ×Each times | 3 points |
| ÷Each divide | 4 points |
| ()Brackets | 0 points |
A two-digit number uses two tiles, so it scores 6.
Example: 8 + 6 ÷ 2 uses 3 numbers (9 points), a plus (1 point) and a divide (4 points) = 14 points.
